Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal is a safe, effective solution for reducing unwanted hair on the face and body. It works by targeting the hair follicle with laser energy, leading to long-term hair reduction. For best results, a series of treatments is recommended.

Preparation & Aftercare Guide

  • 2 Weeks Before:

        •    Avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, and self-tanners on the area to be treated.

        •    Discontinue waxing, plucking, threading, or depilatory creams. The root of the hair must be present for the laser to work.

    3 Days Before:

        •    Avoid retinoids, glycolic acid, and exfoliating products on the treatment area (especially for face, neck, or bikini).

        •    Do not apply any harsh products or active ingredients that could irritate the skin.

    24 Hours Before:

        •    Shave the treatment area thoroughly. Do not wax or tweeze — shaving is the only approved method before treatment.

        •    Keep the skin clean and free from makeup, lotion, deodorant, or SPF.

Important: Let us know if you’ve had recent sun exposure, are taking antibiotics, or are prone to cold sores in the treatment area.

  •    •    You may feel a mild snapping or warmth — similar to a rubber band against the skin.

        •    Most clients tolerate treatment well, and no numbing is applied

        •    A cooling gel is used to protect the skin and enhance comfort.

        •    Treatment times range from 15 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the area.

  • First 24–48 Hours:

        •    Redness, swelling, or a sunburn-like sensation is normal — especially around hair follicles.

        •    Apply cool compresses or aloe vera gel to soothe the skin.

        •    Avoid hot showers, saunas, heavy sweating, and tight clothing over the treated area.

    Avoid For 5–7 Days:

        •    Direct sun exposure, tanning beds, and active skincare (retinol, exfoliants, acids).

        •    Waxing or plucking (shaving is okay between sessions).

    Hair Shedding:

Over the next 1–3 weeks, treated hairs will shed — this is normal. It may look like new growth, but they’ll fall out naturally.

Important: Always wear broad-spectrum SPF 30+ on exposed treated areas to prevent hyperpigmentation.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many sessions will I need?

Most clients need 6 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart, depending on the area and hair type. Maintenance sessions may be needed yearly.

Is laser hair removal permanent?

It offers long-term hair reduction, but some fine or hormonal hair may regrow over time. Regular maintenance can keep results smooth.

Does it hurt?

You may feel a quick zap or warmth, but most clients describe it as mild and tolerable — especially with built-in cooling.

Can all skin types be treated?

Yes! At Radiant Med Spa, we use technology that is safe for all Fitzpatrick skin types. However your hair needs to be darker than your skin for the laser to detect it. Settings are customized for your skin and hair type.

What areas can be treated?

Common areas include the face, underarms, bikini, legs, chest, back, arms, and more. Virtually any area with unwanted hair can be treated (except around the eyes).
